Monster Mutt is the Truck to Beat at Central Florida Hobbies

Posted: 9/9/2006

Bari Musawwir was on fire driving his Losi LST 2 Monster Mutt, no not from the 90 plus degree heat but from Bari’s dominating driving style. Just about every race Bari was in he set a new track record.

Here’s a summary of Bari’s impressive day at the Central Florida Hobbies R/C Monster Truck event this past Saturday; Top Qualifier and taking 1st Place in Big Block Class establishing a new track record of 10.78 sec., Top Qualifier and finishing 2nd in Tuff Truck Class and Top Qualifier in the Professional R/C Monster Truck class.

As the day started each time Bari raced he set a new track record. After setting the track record as the Top Qualifier in the Big Block class with a time of 11:49 seconds, he defeated Dustin Kelly driving Insane with a time of 11.67 seconds. He then beat Mike Herndon driving Iron Man setting a new track record of 11.26 seconds and finally, defeating Grave Digger with a new overall track record of 10.78 seconds. Zeek Heard’s Grave Digger was the only other Big Block R/C Monster truck to come close to Monster Mutt with a time of 11.02 seconds.

In the Tuff Truck class Bari again set the top qualifying mark of 11.49 seconds the same as his Big Block time. He then raced his way through the competition until he met Batman driven by Zeek Heard. Batman would send Monster Mutt back to the dog house. It was an exciting race, Monster Mutt’s 11.69 loosing by only .03 of a second to Batman’s winning time of 11.66. Great job Zeek!

Once again Bari was the top qualifier in the Professional R/C Monster Truck
class with a time of 11.95 seconds. In the first round, Michael Hanna driving his HPI Savage Hell Raiser truck defeated Monster Mutt. Monster Mutt must have thought one of the barricade cones was a fire hydrant and had to stop for a few seconds which cost him the race. Michael was thrilled with his win over the top dog! Michael commented, “I just tried to keep running consistently and hopefully I will get lucky and take the win.” This was Michael’s third event with R/C Monster Motorsports. Michael also won August 2006 Driver of the month award.

Zeek Heard put two of his Wolf Pack Team trucks in the Professional R/C Monster Truck class finals. Batman and Grave Digger would face off with Batman coming out on top with a time of 12.78 seconds.

The pulling crowd was light but strong. Last time we were at Central Florida Hobbies the Truck pulling events were rained out. T.J Morgan with his Traxxas S-Maxx took top honors with a pull of 29’1” @ 20lbs. in the Small Block pulling class. J.D. Kelly took top honors with Wild Thang II with a pull of 24’ 6” @ 75lbs. in the Big Block pulling class.

Since this race was not part of the Chase for the Championship points series, Steve Tash and Mike Herndon tried to set new R/C Monster Truck pulling records. Steve tried his luck with 100lbs. in the sled. His Byron’s Ford Thunder went as far as 23’5” before succumbing to clutch problems. Mike Herndon and his Incredible Hulk tried to muscle 125lbs. to a full pull but unfortunately a driveline problem would stop the Hulk at 24’1”.

Mike Herndon won a $25.00 gift certificate courtesy of Central Florida Hobbies for his pulling efforts and winning First Place in Concourse. R/C Monster Motorsports would like to congratulate Ann Morgan for her first ever R/C Monster Motorsports First Place win in Small Block competition. This was Ann’s second time racing at an R/C Monster Motorsports event.

R/C Monster Motorsports would also like to thank Glenn from Central Florida Hobbies for donating t-shirts and gift certificates to our winners.
