Joey Gargaro and his R/C Monster truck racing team made the 13 hour drive from
Portsmouth, Virginia to participate in the race. This was the second event for
Joey’s crew their first experience with R/C Monster Motorsports was at
Dennis Anderson’s Digger’s Bash back in
May of this year in Poplar Branch, North Carolina. Joey said that they all had a
great time and was well worth the trip! Joey hinted that they may make another
road trip back for The Man’s Expo
event scheduled for November 25-26, 2006 in Melbourne, Florida.
The Chase for the Championship #5 event well attended and the competition was
again top notch. Steve Tash set a new track record in Carpet Drags driving his
Byron’s Revolocity with a time of 1.310 seconds. Supercharged driven by Gregg
Lafferty would be the only driver to defeat Steve and Revolocity as Steve out
powered the track with a wheel stand in the finals. Monster Mutt would win Big
Block Carpet drags with a time of 1.398 seconds over Stuart Shaw, Jr. driving
NAS-T-Maxx.
Drivers navigated around a modified St. Louis style racing course for the
Side-by-Side racing event. The course was designed by Track Director Bari
Musawwir. Speaking of Bari, he once again drove Monster Mutt to the winners
circle in the Big Block class further extending his points lead over his
competitors. In Tough Truck and Pro R/C Monster Truck classes Zeek Heard placed
team trucks in the finals. In Tough Truck Zeek won with Grave Digger 20
defeating his son Justin driving Bounty Hunter. In the Pro R/C Monster Truck
class Zeek again won with Grave Digger 20 defeating Batman. In the Small Block
class it would be Stuart Shaw, Jr. driving NAS-T-Maxx taking the win against
Supercharged driven by Gregg Lafferty.
In Truck Pulling Steve Tash pulled himself back into the points chase winning
the Big Block and Small Block pulling classes. Click
