New Monstercross Event Featured at eXtreme Hobby Zone

eXtreme Hobby Zone racers were revved up for another great day of R/C Monster Motorsports racing featuring the new Monstercross racing event. This was the fifth race event of six for the “In it to Win it II” Kenmore Grill give a way. With the threat of summertime thunder storms, the racers were competing with the clock, each other and the weather.

Race day started out with Sand Drags. New comer Brett Sullivan did a spectacular job driving his new T-Maxx into the first place spot in Small Block Sand Drags. Mike Weaver took the second place spot driving his Chevy bodied T-Maxx. David Cassista came in third place with his Traxxas Revo. Steve Cowles top qualified with a time of 1.261 seconds.

Big Block Sand Drags, another new comer claimed the first place spot. Larry Bosse took the first place spot driving his Savage with a great time of 1.232 seconds. Larry also top qualified with a time of 1.229 seconds. David Yeako driving his Undertaker Savage took the second place spot with a time of 2.745 seconds

Truck Pulls was the second event of the day at eXtreme Hobby Zone. David Cassista’s Traxxas Revo took the first place spot in Small Block Truck pulls. David’s winning pull was 23’7” @ 25lbs. Brett Sullivan took the second place spot with a pull of 12’ 3” @ 25lbs. Mike Weaver’s T-Maxx took third place with a pull of 7’ 2” @ 25lbs.

For the first time ever Big Block Truck Pulls had a tie in the pull off’s. Of course we didn’t leave it a tie, both driver’s came back to find out who was going to be top puller of the day. The battle was between Shannon Jones driving his “Doc” puller and Brian Macumber driving his Grim Reaper Associated MGT. In the pull off both trucks pulled 45lbs. 28’ 9”. Jones and Macumber would re hook and pull the 45lbs. again. The second pull off would have Shannon Jones’s “Doc” truck taking the first place victory with a Full Pull. Brian’s Grim Reaper took the second place spot with a pull of 29’. Bradley Macumber came in third with a pull of 24’ @ 45lbs.

Monstercross was back for its second official run at eXtreme Hobby Zone. Big Block qualifying had Steve Cowles taking the Top Qualifier spot with a time of 1:01.968 / 5 laps. By top qualifying, Steve was in the A-main final round. Now, it was up to the rest of the competition to earn the second A-main position. B-main match up was between Larry Bosse who advanced from the C-main and David Yeako. Yeako took the win with a time of 1:02.459 / 5 laps over Bosse’s 1:18.739 / 5 laps Bose took third place. A-main final round match up was between Yeako and Cowles for a 10 lap battle to the finish. Yeako would take the first place win with a time of 1:57. 287 / 10 laps over Cowles 2: 04.950 / 10 laps for second place. Yeako would also set the fast lap record of 9.865 seconds.

Small Block Monstercross had some very impressive driving from new comer Brett Sullivan. Sullivan advanced from the D-main all the way to the A-main, not without a fight and not without setting some track records along the way. Sullivan set track record in the D-main with a blistering time of 0:55.737 / 5 laps. After a tough battle, Sullivan would face top qualifier David Cassista who top qualified with a fast run of 0:57.012. Sullivan would take the first place spot with a time of 2:01.263 / 10 laps and Cassista took the second place spot with a time of 2:11.669 / 9 laps. David Yeako would take third place.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the second Monstercross event. Get ready for Saturday August 2, 2008 when R/C Monster Motorsports returns to eXtreme Hobby Zone for the final “In it to Win it II” Kenmore grill give a way. Some lucky racer will be going home with a brand new Kenmore stainless steel grill! (You must be present to win!)
