New Monstercross Event Featured at eXtreme Hobby ZonePosted: 7/18/2008
eXtreme Hobby Zone racers were revved up for another great day of R/C Monster Motorsports racing featuring the new Monstercross racing event. This was the fifth race event of six for the “In it to Win it II” Kenmore Grill give a way. With the threat of summertime thunder storms, the racers were competing with the clock, each other and the weather.
Race day started out with Sand Drags. New comer Brett Sullivan did a spectacular job driving his new T-Maxx into the first place spot in Small Block Sand Drags. Mike Weaver took the second place spot driving his Chevy bodied T-Maxx. David Cassista came in third place with his Traxxas Revo. Steve Cowles top qualified with a time of 1.261 seconds.

The battle was between Shannon Jones driving his “Doc” puller and Brian Macumber driving his Grim Reaper Associated MGT. In the pull off both trucks pulled 45lbs. 28’ 9”. Jones and Macumber would re hook and pull the 45lbs. again. The second pull off would have Shannon Jones’s “Doc” truck taking the first place victory with a Full Pull. Brian’s Grim Reaper took the second place spot with a pull of 29’. Bradley Macumber came in third with a pull of 24’ @ 45lbs.
Monstercross was back for its second official run at eXtreme Hobby Zone. Big Block qualifying had Steve Cowles taking the Top Qualifier spot with a time of 1:01.968 / 5 laps. By top qualifying, Steve was in the A-main final round. Now, it was up to the rest of the competition to earn the second A-main position. B-main match up was between Larry Bosse who advanced from the C-main and David Yeako. Yeako took the win with a time of 1:02.459 / 5 laps over Bosse’s 1:18.739 / 5 laps Bose took third place. Small Block Monstercross had some very impressive driving from new comer Brett Sullivan. Sullivan advanced from the D-main all the way to the A-main, not without a fight and not without setting some track records along the way. Sullivan set track record in the D-main with a blistering time of 0:55.737 / 5 laps.
